Methodology
Data Sources and Methodology
TradingNote turns public disclosure records into source-backed pages for investors, Congress trades, insiders, and stocks. The goal is to make the public record easier to review while keeping source, timing, and disclosure limits visible.
Primary Sources
SEC Form 13F
TradingNote uses parsed 13F holdings and holding-change data to show how tracked institutional managers reported public equity positions over comparable filing periods. 13F data is quarterly and arrives after the portfolio date, so it should be read as delayed disclosure evidence, not a live portfolio feed.
SEC Form 4
Insider pages are built from Form 4 style transaction disclosures and related canonical action facts. These filings can show reported purchases, sales, grants, awards, option activity, issuer names, share counts, transaction prices, and filing dates when those fields are present in the source record.
Congress Disclosures
Congress pages organize public transaction disclosures for members of Congress and covered public officials. TradingNote keeps reported ticker, issuer, direction, date, value range, and source timing together, while preserving the practical limits of disclosure ranges and later filing availability.
Refresh and Normalization
Update cadence
TradingNote refreshes canonical action facts and page snapshots on scheduled jobs, with some high-value routes also served through pre-rendered HTML artifacts for search traffic.
Latency
Every source has a disclosure lag. 13F filings are quarterly and delayed, Form 4 and Congress transactions depend on filing availability, and page artifacts may trail the newest canonical facts until the next publish pass.
Normalization
Entities, tickers, actions, value ranges, dates, evidence links, and related page routes are normalized before they are rendered into entity pages, stock pages, sitemap shards, and artifact HTML.
Limitations
TradingNote may estimate display values from disclosed ranges or available market data when exact values are missing. Source records, filing dates, and evidence links remain the primary audit trail.
Not Investment Advice
TradingNote is an information and research workflow built from public disclosure data. Pages, summaries, rankings, alerts, and generated descriptions are not investment advice, recommendations, solicitations, or offers to buy or sell any security. Always review the original filing and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
