RBIL stands out as the pioneering exchange-traded fund dedicated solely to ultra-short, high-quality Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS). These income-generating financial instruments, guaranteed by the U.S. Treasury, feature principal and interest payments that adjust to inflation, thereby serving as a protective measure against rising prices. However, TIPS commonly offer more modest returns compared to traditional fixed-rate bonds. This passively managed fund strategically targets reduced risk and volatility by concentrating its investments on shorter-dated securities, thus avoiding the elevated interest rate sensitivity inherent in longer-duration TIPS. Its portfolio maintains an equal weighting among its constituent bonds, which possess residual maturities ranging from one to thirteen months (e.g., 1-2 months, 2-3 months, and so on). The fund also retains the option to participate in securities lending activities. The associated index undergoes rebalancing on the final business day of each calendar month.
